This ring is absolutely a statement and is crafted in 10ct Yellow, Green & Rose Gold with five graduated natural rubies and has an interesting story behind it.

What is special about this ring is that it is made gold mined in the Black Hills of South Dakota, USA. Black Hills gold pieces like this one feature a signature design of leaves on which the 'veins' of the leaves are still cut by hand and natural rubies to represent grapes. This ring is made by Coleman and is one of only a handful of makers left in South Dakota to use Black HIlls gold.

Who made the design? This beautiful design was created during the gold rush in the US in 1876 by a Frenchman named Henri LeBeau. Henri got lost in South Dakota on his way to California and so failing as a gold prospector, he created this style of jewellery.

Why leaves and grapes? This is where the 'lore' kicks in. Some say it was inspired by the wild grapes he found and ate to prevent starvation when he got lost. Others say it was from a dream of vineyards in the French countryside. Whatever the story - it led to this beautiful and unique signature design.

He reportedly taught a man called S.T. Butler about making Black Hills Gold who opened a jewellery store in 1878 and the rest is history.

What an amazing story behind such a beautiful piece - it is definitely a conversation piece and something you will treasure for years to come.
